Welcome to the great pee poll. At first let me explain the madness. While talking with a friend who has asked to remain nameless, the subject somehow turned to how guys pee, tinkle, go number one, or whatever you want to call it. I, as a female, suggested that the more rational way to go would be out the zipper. My friend who is a guy resisted that and insisted that all normal guys undo their belts and pull it out the top. This spawned a heated discussion, until finally I decided to take it to the ultimate test. I went out and asked guys how they pee. What I found shocked me, as these strange men let me in on many secret guy behaviors. The results to this great question are listed below along with some interesting male culture tidbits.

The Results

The results are in. This data is based upon 100 responses by men from various internet channels. Much thanks to the people who answered my questions, most were eager to fill me on on this rarely pondered side of male life. Appologies to those people who I offended, those that are not open minded and cannot move beyond stereotypes to accept natural behaviors.

This was a basic poll with two choices, zipper or belt. Zipper also refers to button fly, as the point of this survey was to determine whether or not the belt was undone. Undoing the belt can have personal meaning. The pants can be fully dropped, the zipper can be undone as well as the belt, or only the belt can be unbuckled, these all counted as a vote for the belt. Any smart responses, such as " I pull it out the bottom of my pant leg" or "I pee down my leg" were humorous the first time but got old and were disregarded.

Belt Buckles- The size and type of belt buckle worn may increase use of the undoing the belt method, as in truckers and Texans.

Attire- The type of clothes worn may have the largest influence. Baggy pants or a tucked in shirt increase the using of the zipper, while tight pants require the undoing of the belt.

Upbringing- Another nod for genetics and nurturing, the way your daddy does it is usually the way he taught you and is probably how you do it too.

View- While primarily a gay reasoning, undoing the belt promotes the viewing of the member by passers by or other restroom inhabitants.

Size- It was mentioned that a smaller proportioned male may be prone to undo his belt, while a well hung person would prefer to use his zipper. Don't shoot the messenger.

Feeling- Some guys just have a preference due to feel. More freedom and less constriction lead to the undoing of the belt.

Ease- Both sides, zipper and belt, argued that their way was easier, there is no conclusive evidence to support either side.

The discussion often lead to other questions relating to urinary habits. The classic "boxers or briefs" was brought up but the question was never answered, this is a well guarded male preference. Also the use of the "winky maze" or fly seems to be debated, and I was surprised to find out that even those who used their zippers preferred to avoid use of the hole whenever they could.
